Explore Nepal’s Breathtaking National Parks and Wildlife
Nepal is home to an incredible diversity of wildlife, with Chitwan National Park, Bardiya National Park, and 11 other national parks offering a sanctuary for rare and exotic species. These protected areas host a remarkable array of flora and fauna, including the endangered one-horned rhinoceros, Bengal tiger, leopard, several species of deer, sloth bear, Gangetic dolphin, crocodiles, and over 500 species of birds.
The parks provide unparalleled opportunities for wildlife experiences, including elephant safaris, dugout canoe excursions, guided nature walks, birdwatching tours, jungle explorations, and cultural visits to the indigenous Tharu villages. Chitwan National Park, located in the central Terai lowlands, and Bardiya National Park, in the western Terai, are among the finest wildlife destinations in Asia. Visitors can explore these pristine landscapes through elephant-back safaris, jeep excursions, and boat rides, offering close encounters with Nepal’s rich biodiversity.
A variety of accommodations, including jungle lodges, tented camps, and guesthouses, allow guests to experience the wilderness in comfort. Packages typically include lodging, guided excursions, elephant-back safaris, birdwatching and nature walks, boat rides, jeep safaris (as per itinerary), park entrance fees, and all meals for the duration of the stay.

Nestled on an island within the Narayani River, the resort provides a habitat for two crocodile species found in Nepal, as well as hundreds of migratory birds.
Bardiya National Park: A Sanctuary for Rare and Endangered Wildlife
Situated in western Nepal, Bardiya National Park is the country’s largest undisturbed wilderness area. It is home to numerous endangered species, reptiles, and birds, including the elusive Bengal tiger. Over the years, Bardiya has gained a reputation as one of the best locations in Nepal for tiger sightings, a rare experience in the wild. Recently, a resident herd of wild elephants has further enhanced the park’s appeal, offering visitors an even richer wildlife experience.
Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve: A Haven for Migratory Birds
In eastern Nepal, the Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve and the Koshi Barrage provide some of the country’s best birdwatching experiences. During the winter months, this region becomes a vital stopover for migratory waterfowl, waders, and shorebirds. Many rare species not found elsewhere in Nepal have been recorded here, with thousands of birds congregating between January and February before migrating north as temperatures rise.
Whether you seek thrilling wildlife encounters, serene nature escapes, or immersive cultural experiences, Nepal’s national parks offer an unforgettable journey into the heart of the Himalayas’ most treasured ecosystems.
